ERDC supported a military aviation milestone in March 2025, when the New York Air National Guard’s 109th Airlift Wing landed a 61-ton LC-130 Hercules on Parsons Lake in Canada’s Northwest Territories. The photos above highlight the first time the U.S. military has landed the massive cargo plane on a frozen freshwater surface.
